Hello, my name is Mikhail Utkin, i live, work as wooden house design engineer, and ride in Helsinki for good 2.5years already, some of you might know me from local races as me being 2nd on Korso 96km 2017, 3rd Tahko mtb 2017, 4th Evoc mtb, and so on, I think i was 2nd in soumencup XCO in Lieto 2017.
Anyways, i have passion for mountainbiking and I see a huge opportunity for development. I have hands on expereince on trailbuilding race organizing from Russian Karelia where i am from.
My dream is to organize an mtb event and build a track in Nuuksio forest, it will need much handmade wooden ramps, kickers and bridges over swampy areas(this i am really looking forward to build myself), it will have a length arounf 10-15km. The idea for the race is to have a track where 140-140 enduro bike can be the advantage over boring 100-100 marathon bikes, because that is where the modern XCO going in my opinion. Other idea is to have different age groups either with big time difference, or in different days so that to avoid leaders passing the tale of the race on the second loop.
The question i have is: how difficult is to have the permission from the local government or landlord for the race in the area?
I was thinking as Suolikas lake and the trail around it as the location for this idea:

Suolikas is inside the Nuuksio national park and it's forbidden to ride bicycles there (except on bigger roads).

Thanks for the info! I was once hiking there, and saw some traces of bike wheels, but if not allowed nothing to say here, i will find the other place.
How about this one between roads 120 and 130 all the way up to Serena?

Hi Mikhail. That seems to be much more potential place to race-circuit. If I quess right there are not Nuuksio-like limitations how you can use terrain etc. Of cause landowners permissions are needed, but it should not be totally impossible to get them if You have sound plan what kind of construction route needs and how much riders there will be. Maybe Serena and City of Espoo would be interested to use that track or join that happening somehow. If You will continue with that idea, there might be some volunteer riders to testdrive routes there. Maybe some of them would take hammers and saws to learn how that kind of track could be built. Thumbs up!

Around Petikko there are some protected areas and Golf courses, but also some old trails to clear. The storms last year struck this area pretty hard.
From Vestra to Serena protected areas make trail building difficult. In Lahnus there has been a local snowmobile training area with lots of up- and down tracks (local landowner).
The Petikonhuippu hill is still elevated for many years, the initial plans included trails for MTB riders there.
At Hoorikki there are lots of old enduro trails from the time it was used for training with motorized vehicles.
Vantaa City is a big land owner (https://kartta.vantaa.fi/?setlanguage=fi&e=25489723&n=6687858&r=2&w=****&l=Kaupunkikartta_gd2%2Ckiinteistot_vantaa_karttava ntaa%2Cmaaraalat_vantaa_karttavantaa%2Csillat_kart tavantaa%2Cvuokra-alueet_vantaa_karttavantaa&o=100%2C100%2C100%2C100%2C100&text=Vantaa%20City%20as%20land%20owner) there, so one should negotiate with them. Their areas that are not protected are mostly planned for construction or outdoor activities anyway.
